About Edinburgh's Hogmanay
Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is one of the world’s greatest New Year celebrations, drawing visitors from across the globe to welcome the year in the historic heart of Scotland’s capital. This multi-day festival blends centuries-old Scottish traditions with spectacular contemporary entertainment, creating an unforgettable experience from the first lit torch to the final firework.
Torchlight Procession
The festivities open with the iconic Torchlight Procession, as tens of thousands illuminate the Old Town in a stunning river of fire led by pipers, drummers and Shetland’s Up Helly Aa' guizers.
Concert in the Gardens
Set beneath Edinburgh Castle, this legendary ticketed concert hosts major headline acts for the last gig of the year and the first of the next. Past performers include Paolo Nutini, Pet Shop Boys, Pulp, Wet Leg and more. Details for 2026 will be announced later this year.
The World-Famous Street Party
Princes Street becomes a vast open-air dancefloor with live music, DJs, street theatre and an unbeatable carnival atmosphere, culminating in the globally televised Midnight Moment fireworks from Edinburgh Castle. Previous years were welcomed in by Scottish electro-trad trailblazers Valtos, international dance icons 2manydjs, folk legends The Poozies and more. Tickets for 2026 coming soon...
