Winter Windows ignite Edinburgh's festive spirit
This week, we welcomed the return of our annual Winter Windows Art Competition and celebrated the winners' designs at West Princes Street Gardens. The competition was open to children of all ages from local schools with the directive to create a winter scene from their window, and the young artists were definitely up to the task.
The designs are filled with enchanting scenes that any child would love to see out of their window at this time of year, including holiday classics like busy elves, flying reindeer, chilly snowmen, frozen ice rinks, and much more. It’s not hard to wonder if the beautiful wintery scenes of the past weekend in Edinburgh may have inspired some of these young artists, with paintings and drawings filled with snow-covered landscapes. Walking through the gardens feels like reconnecting with the childhood wonder of the season and seeing the true magic of the holidays through a child’s eyes again.
Whether you’re an enjoyer of art or looking for a wholesome way to get in the holiday spirit, this art installation by our best and brightest new artists is the best place to get started.
The 24 winning artists can see their beautiful creations displayed along the lighted walkway in West Princes Street Gardens for the entire holiday season, so grab a warm drink and take a wander through!
