Our brand new Polar Ice Bar and the Coorie Inn on George Street are now open, welcoming locals and tourists alike into these two great attractions. These venues join the already popular Uniqlo Ice Rink, making George Street the place to be this season for hangouts at both ends of the temperature spectrum.  

If you’re brave enough to start your evening off in the cold, the Polar Ice Bar is kept at a chilly –8 degrees and can satisfy those dreams of an icy winter wonderland. Made entirely of ice that has been frozen and shaped from recycled rainwater, you’ll feel like you’re inside of an igloo right in the middle of the city! You’ll also get to sip on a festive drink while you walk through, but it wouldn’t be an ice bar unless your drink glass was also made of ice! This experience is also ideal for those looking to snap a perfect pic for Instagram, with stunning animal ice sculptures throughout and a photo-worthy ice throne for you to pose on at the end. But don’t stand in one place for too long, because the floor is also made of ice! The Polar Ice Bar perhaps isn’t for those who find August in Edinburgh to be chilly, but with each visit running in 30-minute sessions, you'll get just enough of the cold vibes before it’s time to warm up next door at the Coorie Inn! 

The Coorie Inn brings to mind scenes of cosy winter lodges and piping hot drinks, with no shortage of festive warmers on the menu for you to choose from. With tartan throws, plush seating and outdoor heaters to keep you toastie, you’re quickly transported to a luxurious highland hideaway right in the heart of the city. It makes for the perfect place to catch-up with pals outside of the house without having to brave the chilly outdoors for too long. If you’re dreaming of summer patio drinks long-gone, the Coorie Inn is the winter equivalent of those great times. This year also brings a programme of live music, pub quizzes, craft workshops, and delicious festive fayre, leaving your hangout with even more to offer this winter season.  

On the other side of the Coorie Inn, you’ll find the UNIQLO Ice Rink which has returned to George Street for another year of fun and adventure! Whether you’re an old hand or a first-time skater, the rink is the perfect festive setting to strap those skates on and take a few laps around the ice. Our younger new skaters can learn the ropes with the support of a penguin skating aid, so this is the perfect chance to start a new annual tradition with the family.
