Step inside Scotland's 'coolest' winter experience, where the whole family can explore a glittering frozen world and discover breathtaking ice sculptures carved by hand.
On arrival, enjoy a refreshing apple juice served in a glass made from ice, or save your token for a comforting hot chocolate afterwards - the perfect way for wee ones to warm up after their icy adventure.
NEW THEME FOR 2026: Enter a mythic world of axe-wielding Vikings where dazzling hand-carved sculptures recount ancient legends – the perfect photo moment direct from the Halls of Valhalla!
We'll keep you cosy with jackets and gloves provided on arrival, whilst the experience remains set at a frosty -8°C.
Please note that the 20% discount for Edinburgh residents does not apply to Family Ice Experience tickets.
The session will include entry for each individual – all members of the group will need a ticket to access. There is a family ticket available for a family or group of four consisting of a maximum of 2 adults.
Family Ice Experience sessions are open to all ages. We operate a babes in arms policy which stipulates that children under 18 months do not require a ticket but must be carried. Please note there is no buggy park at the attraction and strictly no buggies allowed within the ice experience itself.
Outside of these dedicated family-friendly sessions, all other Polar Ice Bar sessions are strictly 18+ only. While alcoholic drinks are not included in the family session ticket - even for adults - you can purchase a token inside the ice bar for an alcoholic option. Please note, all alcohol sales follow our Challenge 25 policy and upon proof of ID.
The Polar Ice Bar is fully wheelchair accessible with ramped access into the space. The flooring inside the cold section of the Polar Ice Bar is frozen bark chip so please be aware of this. PA tickets are available to companions through our Box Office.
Please note, the ice experience is -8 to -10 degrees so please dress appropriately. We do not provide additional children's jackets but will have some additional children sized gloves available.
We do not offer refunds if the experience is too cold for those attending, but you are more than welcome to move between the warming area and ice experience within your 30 minute session. Please make sure to take all of this into consideration before booking your tickets.
Tickets are non-refundable or exchangeable except in the case of event cancellation. If an event is cancelled, ticket holders will be offered spaces at a rescheduled event or other performances (subject to availability) or receive a refund up to the face value of the tickets. No refund will be given for tickets ejected or refused entry due to inappropriate behaviour.
